Want to know how supplements interact with the mind and body?

The human body, in all its beautiful creation – can be a magical place to thrive in or one of complete starvation and doom. Cool fact .... You get to choose what goes on inside of it and what comes out. Humans are made of close to 70-80% water and given a tabula rasa (clean slate) when we are born.  John Locke, coined the term Tabula Rasa, to mean – we are born with a clean slate and our knowledge comes from experience.  Do you agree with his philosophy? After all, he is regarded as one of the most influential and enlightenment thinkers. The moment we begin to breathe – our bodies become the vehicle that allows us to function optimally or die a slow, methodical death. The words might sting, or they can provide comfort, knowing, you decide for yourself, how to live your life.

Reminder: You must understand that everything you put into your body, is your responsibility.

Let’s discuss how our bodies feel when we take pharmaceutical grade supplementation and eat clean. When comparing and contrasting taking supplements vs not taking them, you will see a significant difference.

How we Feel When Supplements Seep Into our Cells.

The best way to describe the mind + body connection while consuming daily supplements = EUPHORIA. I feel as though I can run a marathon, my mind is extra sharp, my body is cleansed of most toxins (I don’t believe we ever get rid of them all), I sleep well at night, my sex drive is elevated, my immune and digestive functioning is optimal, I do not feel symptomatic, in the least, I am completely energized, I have regular bowel movements, no achy joints, I am not moody, my hair is soft and my nails grow quickly, my body is slender and my hormones are balanced. Whoa!

A life filled with vitality is that which lacks no illnesses, being disease free, removal of stressors (environmental and friendships) and no symptoms. The goal is to live filled with vibrancy, such as forgiving others, learning to exercise self-care, loving unconditionally, bringing your body into balance, being in a state of peace and having a sense of fulfillment. To me, I strive to build upon the positive qualities mentioned above – that is what makes my life meaningful!

Toxic Friendships

Maintaining healthy boundaries, friendships, partnerships and even marriages – is a must for optimal wellness. You cannot get free, being chained to someone else’s web of poison. When you are abused, verbally attacked, ridiculed for no reason, face the trolls and those that are jealous of you – your body internalizes this sick cycle. When our minds become affected by stress, which I know manifests diseases – you are going to have to distance and cut off people that are no longer good for your wellbeing. Do not allow anyone to play emotional games with you and hinder your beautiful soul from shining.

What does all of this have to do with taking supplements?

According to the American Institute of Stress (AIS) https://www.stress.org/americas-1-health-problem/

And

....

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) up to 90% of doctor visits, may be triggered by a stress-related illness. ** Job stress being the leading source of stress for adults and violence, threats, unhealthy lifestyle habits, social isolation, the erosion of family and religious values, lack of social support and loneliness are the contributing factors for children, teenagers, college students and the elderly. **

What does this mean for you?

A wake-up call that means stress can = a quick death if we don’t learn to exercise self-care and proper nurturing. Since, so many people are visiting docs, for illnesses, directly linked to stress – people are going to be taking supplements for their symptoms.

Supplements + Lifestyle

Supplements help keep our negative symptoms calm and under control, with biological transformations. Can you imagine not taking your daily shot of ease, when you are under pressure?  Honestly, just think for a moment, what if I couldn’t take my _____ (fill in the blank) .... What feelings come to the surface?   We also learn to exercise regularly, clean up our diets, maintain happy supportive relationships, eliminate toxins from our environments and love ourselves. When we combine the correct supplementation + healthy choices in our lives, we reap powerful benefits.

Our mind, body, soul and emotional stability are well adjusted when we feed it the right products and act to create harmony within. I strongly encourage you to nourish your body with every effort possible.

What a cocktail to fuel our engines. I feel inspired to step into my power and take massive action for powerful results. How Does Our Body React Without Supplements? For starters, you could be affected from an unhealthy diet, so don’t confuse the two. Health experts recommend you consume your vitamins with foods, if possible. For instance, Vitamin C – supports our immune functioning, Vitamin D – brain and bone health, Vitamin A – for healthy looking skin, and Vitamin B for energy production – to name a few.

Vitamin D

If you do not have enough Vitamin D in your body, your bones begin to slowly deteriorate. Vitamin D also aids your body, fighting colds and flu like symptoms – without enough on board, you begin to have lower immune functioning. Adequate Vitamin D levels allow our body to help absorb calcium, which allows us to build strong bones and keep them strong. You are at risk for Osteoporosis (bones deteriorate) without the right does of daily Vitamin D.

B Vitamins

B12 Keeps our nervous system calmed down and provide the necessary energy production – so we don’t feel run down. It also helps make red blood cells that take oxygen to your tissues. Lacking B vitamins can lead to feeling symptomatic:
  • Fatigue
  • Anemia
  • Depression
  • Poor Memory
  • Depression
  • Mood Disturbances/Swings

People experiencing these negative side effects – are largely due to inefficient levels of B Vitamins. B6 is known for its role in physical and psychological health and wellbeing. Vitamin B6 helps maintain healthy metabolism (weight management), healthy looking skin, liver function, eye health, energy production (energy boost), and regulates homocysteine levels. Lack of B6 causes blood vessels to constrict, making them narrow and increased risk for heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. Deteriorating brain development, failing levels of memory and cognitive functioning. Damage to neurons – directly affecting our central nervous system. Erratic (unpredictable) mood swings – which probably means you have an elevated serotonin level in your brain. The lack of Vitamin B6 can lead to mood disorders and unbalanced GABA neurotransmitters.

Probiotics

Gut health is what comes to mind first. I take probiotics because I want “good bugs” in my system. The probiotic I take 1 x a day contains 34 BILLION – yes, I said billion – clinical strains of healthy bacteria – that maintains a balanced intestinal microflora. This specific probiotic contains several different strains that aid in beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract. Probiotics are bacteria that line the digestive tract and improve it. We fight infections much better with enough probiotics, our immune functioning is much stronger, and they help us absorb all nutrients, within our body.
What happens when we don’t take probiotics?

We become prone to infections much easier – and we can begin to experience stomach ailments, bloating, gassiness, abnormal bowel functioning, inflammation flare up – causing discomfort and food sensitivities, our skin can form acne or not look as smooth, buildup of bad bacteria and regular absorption of your nutrients is compromised. Passing lots of gas, looking three months pregnant, acne, getting sick and not absorbing my vitamins, does not sound like a trip I want to adventure on! How do you feel after hearing the truth of the negative effects of not taking probiotics?

Vitamin C

Did you know Vitamin C doesn’t just help cure the common cold? Vitamin C has multiple health benefits. Most common, of course, is lesser cold like symptoms or if you are proactive – boost immunities and eliminate colds altogether. Thankfully, I have not had a cold in two years. Reduces histamine levels, that reduce allergy symptoms. It can be helpful in reducing wrinkles and the elasticity of your skin. A required producer of collagen – aiding in the process of wound care. Keeping stress low key – is one of the best benefits. Vitamin C protects our brain and nervous system during times of fight of flight mode – lowering our risk of damage. Improves blood flow – keeping blood vessels dilated – lowers risk for heart disease and high blood pressure.

Plenty of Americans lack Vitamin C and suffer consequences – according to the American College of Cardiology – 25% of deaths are related to heart disease. https://www.cardiosmart.org/Heart-Basics/CVD-Stats More than 42 million women are currently living with some form of cardiovascular disease. Nearly 5 out of 10 adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure, according to guidelines released in November 2017. I am in shock and disbelief that statistical research shows this many people are suffering.

Vitamin A

Reduces inflammation and is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radical damage. Immune support depends on the sufficient making of Vitamin A production within our body. It plays a vital role in fighting off cancer and autoimmune diseases!
Not taking Vitamin A or eating enough for it to help -- leads to the major exposure of a diagnosis of cancer, poor immune functioning, autoimmune disease, cellular damage, allergies, inflammation and dead cell build up.
When we combine all the symptoms we experience from withdrawing our supplement intake – the list is overwhelming. See below:

Feeling Symptomatic – a Combination of Side Effects

  • Nausea
  • Heartburn
  • Sleepless Nights
  • Stress
  • Headaches
  • Body Aches
  • Low Sex Drive
  • Irritability
  • Brain Fogged
  • Exhaustion
  • Stomach Bloating

When I look at an endless array of negative symptoms and link them all together -- I can and probably will experience (mentioned above) – I certainly begin to feel anxious! Who wouldn’t? I mean, our bodies are meant to be 100 all the time – not 50 when we feel like it. Half input = half output and I feel so blah when my cells are not absorbing the correct amount of supplementation.

Feelings of anxiousness, fatigue, hunger, brain fogged, low energy and even mild depression. You also are prone to sleepless nights from melatonin deprivation and could quite possibly lose all interest in social activities or self-care, which are signs of depression.
Would our mind and body eventually break down without proper supplements and vitamins? In a one-word answer – YES. The lack of vital supplements, nutrients, self-care, Integrative Nutrition and vitamins – make our body shrivel up like a raisin instead of being robust like a round, juicy plum.

This is what healthy + sexy looks like

Each piece of the puzzle – makes us whole and if we remove any vitamin or supplement that is essential for us – our mind and body experience symptoms. Make wise choices and don’t skimp on spending money that is necessary for your health benefits. Living life vibrantly is not always easy, but it is worth it.
